There's a breed of fanatic in Japan known as the densha otaku. They're train enthusiasts. They often go to stations and take videos or pictures of trains. Sometimes they don't even ride the train, just take pictures. I happened to see one in Shonandai Station in Fujisawa. He was interested in the new express train.
