Yesterday I went to the famous Nada no Kenka Matsuri (Nada Fighting Festival), where hundreds of men wear loincloths and carry giant wooden floats called yatai. They gather in front of the Matsubara Hachiman Shrine in Himeji, then compete by slamming the yatai into each other to please the god of fighting. Finally, the festival peaks when the yatai are and paraded through the city in a colorful spectacle of drums, chanting, and lots of butts......
