Close to Asakusa and by the banks of the Kanda River, the Asahi Beer Hall and Tokyo Skytree are some of the best-known buildings in Tokyo. Completed in 1989 and designed by Philippe Starck, the Asahi Beer Hall, which actually happens to be the Asahi Breweries Japan HQ, is made of a building shaped like a glass of beer with foam on its top. Right by its side, you will find another construction, also part of the Asahi Beer Hall, better known as the “golden turd” (Nickname given to the Asahi Flame by locals).

While the Asahi Beer Hall does not offer much to see to tourists wishing to learn more about the brand, you can, however, visit the 22nd floor of the building where you will find two of Tokyo’s most popular bars a and wide selection of beers.

Erected more recently (2012), Tokyo Skytree, is a joint construction between Tobu Railway, taking care of the commercial and tourist aspect of the tower and NHK who use the tower as a huge antenna in order to cover most of Tokyo area with its Digital Terrestrial TV services.

Tall enough to give you a bird's eye view of Tokyo, it is best to visit Skytree in winter (December to February) when Tokyo’s sky is the clearest. Frankly speaking, Tokyo Tower offers the best view around!

Tout proche d’Asakusa et aux abords du fleuve du Kanda, le Asahi Beer Hall et la Tokyo Skytree font partie des bâtiments les plus connus de Tokyo. Achevé en 1989 et imaginé par Philippe Starck, le Asahi Beer Hall, qui fait penser à un verre de bière avec sa mousse a son sommet, et est adjacent avec un immeuble noir plus petit, orné de sa flamme d'or, aussi appelé “la crotte dorée” (surnom donné à la flamme Asahi par les japonais), et est en réalité le quartier général de Asahi Breweries Japan.

Bien que le Asahi Beer Hall n’a pas grand chose à offrir aux visiteurs en quête de plus d’information à propos de la marque, vous pouvez tout de même vous rendre au 22ème étage où vous trouverez deux des plus célèbres bars de Tokyo proposant un large choix de bières.

Erigée plus récemment (2012), la Tokyo Skytree est en fait une construction née d’une collaboration entre Tobu Railway, qui prend soin de l’aspect commercial et touristique de la tour, et NHK qui l’utilise comme une antenne géante dans le but de couvrir la majorité de Tokyo pour assurer la transmission de la TV numérique terrestre. Suffisamment grande pour contempler Tokyo du du haut du ciel, il est plus agréable de visiter Tokyo Skytree en hiver (de Décembre à Février) où le ciel est le plus pur. Mais pour être franc, la Tokyo Tower reste notre meilleur choix car elle offre une vue bien plus impressionnante.
