The Sanshin, a three string guitar or banjo, is an Okinawan musical instrument and precursor to the more popular Shamisen. Unlike Shamisen however, Sanshin are traditionally made of bamboo and covered with the skin of the Burmese or reticulated python. Okinawa Sanshin is by far one of my favorite Japanese traditional music styles. I was lucky enough that day to be able to shoot a few clips of a small concert held in the lobby of our hotel.

Le Sanshin est une guitare (ou un banjo) à trois cordes et est non seulement un instrument de musique d’Okinawa, mais aussi le précurseur du Shamisen qui est bien plus populaire. Contrairement au Shamisen cependant, les Sanshin sont traditionnellement construit avec du bambou et couverts d’une peau de python birman.
L’Okinawa Sanshin est de très loin notre style de musique japonaise traditionnelle, et nous avons eu la chance de capturer quelques clips d’un concert qui se tenait dans le lobby de notre hotel.
