Shibuya Crossing is the world's busiest pedestrian crossing.

Tokyo is famous for countless things, and Shibuya Crossing is certainly high on the list. It's been featured in blockbuster movies like, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Resident Evil: Afterlife and Retribution. Located in front of Shibuya Station, it's here where the world's busiest pedestrian crossing takes place.

I figured it would be a shame to be in Tokyo and miss out on walking across the famous intersection. I got there right at evening rush hour and the area was beyond packed. During these busy times in the day, upwards of 3,000 people cross the street together.

When lights change at the junction they all do at the same time and pedestrians pour onto the street. You'd think it would be a frantic mess when everyone meets in the middle, but it was a fairly simple pass. If you're going for the first time, you definitely need to go up to the 2nd story of Starbucks to get a higher view.
